Baron Beach

Gunungkidul regency which lies about 39 km away in the south east of Jogjakarta City, covers about 1.485,36 km2 area or 46,63% of the Jogjakarta Special Province. Gunungkidul consist of 18 subdistricts and 144 villages. Based on its topography and land conditions, is generally devided into 3 areas, memberly :
1. Zona Batur Agung
2. ledok Wonosari Zone
3. Pegunungan sewu Zone.


Gunungkidul has special tourism object, which are beach tourism object, as many as 46 beaches. One of famous beach is Baron. It is main tourism object in Gunungkidul. It is located 20km away from Wonosari, or 60km from Jogjakarta. It takes about 30mnt from wonosari by motor or car, and 2 hours from Jogjakarta.

There are about 60 sailor boats parking here. Most of local people work as a fishermen.

Baron beach is surrouded by limestone hills. From the top of the hills we can enjoy view of the high sea. The blue of the ocean, the power of waves, high cliff, and the strong of wind wipes our faces can lead us to forget for a moment from work fatigue.

On the west there is a mouth of underground river (fresh water). Visitor may swim here.

If you are tired after playing around the water time to rest and eat. You can choose to purchase fish directly from fishermen or bought at the fish market. All fish sold in the beach baron assured its fresh  as obtained directly from the fishermen. We can by inexpensive price, ranging from 20-40 thousand per kilogram. There are alot of kind of fish, kakap merah, kakap hitam, tongkol, hiu (shark), pari etc. 

After buying the fish you can cook at a nearest restaurant and having lunch.
